when i started riding it, it felt funny on my turns. i drove it only a few miles total and realized there was a screw in it. the screw is just to the right of the middle part of the tire. all the shops in town aren't going to be open till tuesday and i need it before then. will a regular car plug kit work? is it recommended or should i wait
its a '07 ninja 650r. it only has about 3000 miles on the tire. the tread is still perfect
Hi I have owned many motorcycles before harleys, suzuki rf 600, ninja zx7r,prostreet etc. I am really looking to buy another sportbike again the local market here has a few decent prospects, there is a 2001 gsxr 600 with 8 inch swingarm chromed everywhere custom paint etc only 7500 miles and clean title for only 2500, but i have really been wanting a 750 or liter bike my question is can a 600 be built to outperform the 1000 or 750 or should i just keep waiting for the big boy bike?
I am a beginer rider and I look foward to purchasing a green 2008 ninja 250R. I more or less made up my mind about the bike, but i have no idea about what kind of helmet, jacket, gloves, pants. gloves etc. to buy. I am looking for affordable brands that will get the job done and that will match my bike. I know of icon, they seem to make some pretty good stuff. are they good? are they too expensive? what is a good brand that isnt too expensive. just any information you guys know i would appreciate it, thanks.
Im 17 and im looking to buy a motorcycle but im not sure which one would be a good start. Currently i ride my cousins suzuki 100. Would the ninja 650r be too much?
I am 16 and 6'4" and I was looking at the Yamaha r6 or the ninja 650 are those good beginner bikes or what would be a better choice for me?
I'm really looking into buying a motorcycle. I live in Alaska, so not many people are selling them. However a friend of mine bought this 2007 Ninja last summer, and wants to sell it this summer so he can get a faster bike.
He wants ,000 for the motorcycle + the helmet. It has 4,100 miles on it.
My question is... Is it worth it to buy this motorcycle? Or should I keep looking until I can find something cheaper? I'm only 19, and this summer I'll be making around an hour. So I can pay him off, but I'm just concerned that I'm spending too much for a beginner...
Can anyone give me some advice?
I'm 16 years old, 5' 10" and weigh 170 pounds and i was thinking to buy a YAMAHA YZF 600R for my first bike... I HAVE TAKEN THE SAFETY COURSE...i have rode mopeds when i was 12 years old...after taking the safety class i seem pretty confident is riding...i'm going on vacation to india next week for 5 weeks where i will be driving scooters and motorcycles A LOT..from what i have read, this bike is a good beginner bike because it isn't as powerful as the R6 and is more comfortable and forgiving...it is also pretty cheap..a year 2003 you can get for under 00...if anyone has this bike or knows some pros or cons about it i would like to hear about them...is this a good beginner bike? i really dont want to start on a 250 or 500 ninja because i know i will grow out of it within a week...i wont try to do stupid wheelies and crap like that...i've seen some accidents and it isn't pretty...i want this bike to go to work and school and just to ride around town with my friends with...thanks!!!
I just got a motorcycle jack for my boyfriend for Christmas but I'm wondering if its as great as I think it is. I did a lot of research and got the more expensive Craftsman jack from Sears. He does all his own work on his bikes (Ninja 650?, TL100R, dirtbikes- kx500 and honda 125 as well as a new parts bike and a formula 3 snowmobile).
What I want to know is if the jack will work with these types of sportsbikes/dirtbikes. Any ideas? I've heard a lot about cruisers on them but not sports bikes and I'm not sure why... The website say it Includes two adapter bars for high chassis vehicles such as dirt bike." Does this make it useful for all dirtbikes and sportbikes?
And if you do a lot of your own bike maintenance, do you suggest a jack? Is it something you have found to be useful?
Thanks for any help! =)
I'm guessing that Polar Bear bought the less expensive 9 jack? The reviews for that one were terrible but the more expensive Professional jack had 4.5 stars and people said it was great...
Okay, here is the situation...Im a 17 year old (well, in one month I will be) high school graduate. Im in college full time, and work part time. I need a form of transportation that is cheap,effective, and reliable. My parents are not letting me buy a 1993 Firebird as I wished because of the "Ungodly" insurance rates, which I understand. So Ive decided to buy a new Ninja 250R. I want a bike for the following reasons;
(1) GAS MILEAGE-up to 70 mpg.
(2) LOW INSURANCE- as low as a month. (Hell of a lot cheaper than 0 a month for a Firebird
(3) LOW COST- 00 for a brand new bike.
(4) LOW POWER- There isn't enough power for me to get stupid with.
(5) LOW MAINTENANCE-Very low maintenance, only oil ,filters, and tires need replacement every few thousand miles
(6) RELIABLE- Ive never heard of some ones ninja breaking down on them.
But my parents are protesting my request to allow me to buy a motorcycle. They know that Im a responsible kid ( I mean come on, im in college and Im freaking 16), but my mother says that im going to get killed. No matter how much that I tell her that I'll take safety courses, and wear a helmet and FULL leathers, she refuses to let me start working on getting my M class license. She believes that leathers don't do anything but keep all your dead guts together in a wreck, which I know is not true. Apparently I am "taking my life in my hands" if I ride a bike. And she states that Im already shortening my lifespan by joining the Marine Corps next semester. lol
Sorry for the long read, but Im just really upset at her. I present her with all of the logical reasons to let me purchase a bike, but she is just sooo damn hard headed. What do I do?
I saw someone in my basement with a suzuki something, it was a black sports bike which is exactly what i'm looking for. Anyone know what kind it might be? I think the person is probably around 5'2"-5'3" from the look of the bike which is the size and build i want, anybody have any suggestions? Anybody possibly know what it is? Any suggestions on a first bike for a shorter person? I heard the ninja is good.
I would like to buy Ninja in the future, but I'm looking for other motorcycles as well. I know Honda CBR and Ducatis are similar looking, but I'm excluding Ducatis due to its high price...
Thank you for your answers
My parents seem to think that a motorcycle in inherently too dangerous and that it doesn't matter how I act on it. I just turned 16. (I get my car license in two weeks). My dad started riding motorcycles when he was 14 or so and had a 750cc when he was 17 (at least a little hypocritical?). no training and no safely courses. he got into two accidents (one he was swerving to avoid and accident and the other a car took a 'no blinker left turn' in front of him). I have saved up money (bout 4.5k) for about 3 years now. I am plan on taking the MSF safely course and buying protective gear (helmet, jacket, gloves). I can also pay for insurance. The bike I want to start on is a Ninja 250cc (any model from 1999 to 2003), which I am told is an excellent starter motorcycle. maybe in about a year or two depending on how confident I feel, I could advance to a 600cc. I would use this to go to and from school, my job, and sports practices. I am a safe and competent driver in a car (no urge to speed, no crazy lane changing ect.). I have also brought up statistics to help them understand my reasoning. (http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202781, http://www.msgroup.org/forums/mtt/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=242). If I am paying for everything and am willing to do everything I can to be a safe and informed rider on the road, why can't I buy myself a motorcycle? Am I being unreasonable? How can I better present my argument such that they will allow me to purchase and ride my own motorcycle?
PS: My schoolwork is not a negative factor- 4.5 GPA last semester.
PPS: My whole point is how can I convince them that living/dying on a motorcycle in more than random chance? That if I am responsible it isn't simply a death machine.

WHATS snell m2005 testing? Is this tested in the year 2005??
I'm planning to get a motorcycle. It will be my first time driving one. Lessons will be completed in a week, after which I will be purchasing an '07 Ninja. For riding around town and on the interstate during the late spring, summer, and early fall, what kind of gear should I buy?
I know I need a helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots, but what about pants or a suit?
And what kind should should I buy? What safety certifications and features do I need to look for, and what comfort features are important?
I've tried just looking on Yahoo, but most of the sites that help beginners are designed by online stores trying to sell us 0 racing suits.
What gear do I need, what features do I need that gear to include, and how should I go about buying it?
Thank you!
I am being advised to use Sakura tires for my Ninja. These are chinese made tires. I would like to know about the performance, speed rating, etc about Sakura.
I will be buying my first motorcycle (an 09 Ninja 250r) here in a couple weeks. I'm lost in trying to find a helmet to buy. I need one that is first and foremost a good quality helmet. It must be full faced and obviously DOT approved. money is also an issue obviously.
This is a new world for me so I feel very vulnerable buying something that is so important with so little knowledge. I'm a first time rider so statistically the chances are that this helmet will be used for its ultimate intended purpose in the next year. (I know that may not be true, but its what I'm telling myself.)
I guess my questions are as follows:
1. What is an acceptable amount of money to spend on a helmet?
2. Can I obtain a good quality and new helmet for 0 and under or should i expect to pay more for one? (I've been looking on amazon and finding helmets that are under 0 and have good reviews, but most reviews are from first time riders.
3. What are some other things I should consider when buying helmets? What are some things I may miss that you know of from experience?
4. What brands should I be looking for that are reputable? What are some brands I should be watching out for that are not reputable?
5. If you can provide links to helmets you recommend that would be awesome, but please don't feel obligated to.
When I get up in the morning and look in the mirror, I realize everything that makes me who and what I am is contained between my two ears, so thank you in advance for helping me in this. I know this is a long question, so feel free to answer it partially.
Thank you for your answers all!
Genmischief, your answer was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!
