Motorcycle trailer accessories
Im buying a new bike 3 hours away because its about 00 cheaper. Can i buy the bike and then either trailer or ride it home the same day? Or does it take a couple days to prep. Thanks
I bought a motorcycle 2 years ago brand new. I also bought their tire protection plan that would protect me in case I got a nail in my tire.
See, the first bike I owned got my tire punctured twice within 6 months. For bikes it's recommended you get a new tire instead of repairing it. It got rather expensive. So I though sure maybe I should get this plan for new bike.
Well what do you know, now that I have the plan I cant even find nail on the street. Just my luck. My tire is actually almost completely bald.
My question is does the plan cover worn out tires or only tires with nails. If not can I just hammer in a nail? I know it's cheating the system but I want my money's worth. Are they able to tell you just hammered a nail in? Is there a way I can make it look like I really did run one over?
please help.
reddishpa is a loser
My husband and I disagree on the use of a helmet for our 3 year old.
I feel that my husband and my son should BOTH be wearing helmets but my husband will never be caught in one.
I insist on our son wearing one when he pulls him in his new bike cart. It is a three wheeled trailer that hooks to an adult bike and has a nylon covered metal frame.
Is he right that this is overkill on the safety? I'd really love resources to back up my side and hope you can help.
My First New Bike. i have alway bought used Bike and always have alot of problems sooooo my wounderfull wife said Just buy a Fu#*%N New Bike and stop spending your money on use crap, am a penny pincher i have a good job but i save all my money ( so im buying a New Sportz Bike haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I will soon buy a motorcycle, and am strongly considering "highway bars" (if that's the correct term) as part of my purchase. I understand they help protect both the bike and rider in a fall, but I also heard they are good for adding another foot position. This is important to me, as I will do some touring. (My new bike will not have floorboards; the dealer does not offer them for the Honda Shadow Aero 750.) How does the rider rest his or her feet on the highway bars? Is it generally comfortable? Does anything need to be added to the highway bars in order to use them as "footrests?" Any negatives on highway bars? Any additional suggestions for adding other foot positions? Thank you.
I have been looking at the forums quite a bit, and I have a few questions...
Let me start off by saying, I do not have never ridden or owned a bike before so that is why I said TOTAL beginner...
Bike Questions:
After reading around I decided/think that the Ninja 250 would probably be the best bike to buy for my first bike. I have a few questions about that as well.
I'm about 6'0 195lbs, would this bike be a good fit for my size?
- Also, can you have a passenger sit relatively easy on this bike?
I have also read that buying a used Ninja 250 (about 1-2 years old) is the best idea, and so I decided I would go with that, and own it for 1-2 years and then sell it like many have recommended. BUT I'm looking to pay around 2000k - 2.5k for the bike. I am wondering where a good place is to look for used motorcycles, as well as what I should be looking at specifically in the bike, as in, what types of miles does the average bike use per year (how do the miles affect the bike wear/tear wise), What specific problems should I look for that would warn me from buying a used bike?
- If you have any other suggestions for a new bike let me know.
Again this would be my first bike, and I am wondering how much cost of the gear/training for the bike would be. And how the training is done, as I don't really know anyone with a bike.
So I live in Michigan, I am 18 Years of Age, and Have my Operators License. And by looking at the laws/regulations, I need to:
1. Pass a written test (basically just familiarizing myself with manual)
2. Receive a TIP (Temp. Instruction Permit) - this I believe allows me to ride with someone over 18 that has a license while I am learning how to ride. Seen as though I have never ridden before is there some kind of training class I can take before this? I would like to try out my skills on a bike before I actually buy one.
3. Complete a skills test...this I guess just has to do with basic operation and a bike inspection.
- Major problems here, I dont have a bike yet, also don't know anyone really that has a bike that I can ride with, is the a good website to go to where I can find people? Also before I actually go on the road I would like to learn basics what do you guys suggest?
Costs:
Bike: Approx: 00-2500
Training and License: I believe this is around 0-150?
Gear: ??? (How much for decent gear/rain gear) - Michigan Requires Helmet)
Insurance on both bike and rider - ???? - this is a MAJOR question, what is a average or what does yours cost approx? Yearly/or Monthly
That's what I've come up with so far, If you can answer anything that would be GREAT! If you have any other suggestions or see anything that I missed please feel free to comment!
- Hopefully I can join the ranks this Summer!
I bought a new suzuki gz250 and after 50 miles it wouldn't even start, after a series of jumping it and messing with it, it now has 119 miles on it. They said they would try and fix it but the reason a bought a new bike and not a used one is so i wouldn't have to deal with these problems! Now the dealer says he can't take it back, but my financer says he can- is there a law in arkansas that says he has to?
I am looking to buy a 08 Yamaha FZ600. Was wondering what I need to look for in buying this new bike. It is labeled as being "like new" and "adult owned". Also, is this a good bike for short and/or long trips? The price is listed under ,700. Second opinion on this price?
Choices in order what bike I like best
#1 Suzuki V Strom 1000 ( not the 650 V Strom )
#2 Honda Interceptor
#3 Honda ST1300
#4 Yamaha FJR1300
#5 Suzuki Burgman Executive 650
my test rides were on the V Strom, Interceptor, and Burgman
I ride with friends that own the Honda Gold Wing, Harley Road King, Suzuki SV650, and the Honda VTX1300, so my choice of a new bike must be compatible
loved the V Strom 1000, but the windshield doesn't work and the engine sounds funny
The Interceptor is almost perfect, but its an uncomfortable seating postion for me
The Burgman I fell in love with, its comfortable, quiet, no wind, you can smoke a cigarette and hear the birds singing as you ride down the highway at 70 mph, but guys will make fun of me riding a scooter
I "HATE" cruiser bikes and I hate Harley's even more!
Need a comfortable bike for long all day road trips of 200 miles or more and running 20 mph over the speed limits
my current bike is a Yamaha FZ6
one advantage I love having is a big gas tank with higher gas mileage, where the people I ride with have to stop every 60 miles for gas and I can go all day without needing to refuel
santa is dead, "SHUT UP" I don't like you!
Im a beginner motorcycle rider and im looking into buying a 250cc bike
my choices are a 2009 kawasaki ninja 250r for ,200
im not sure whether i will like the sitting position because of the leaning forward. starting out on a new bike might not be the bes
another choice is a used honda rebel 2008 for ,000 which makes more sense i sat on it and felt the weight which is very light. my legs and arms seem a bit long for it though because i felt like the seat should be further back but overall i was impressed
the last choice is a 2003 suzuki gz250 for ,000
its a bit old and im afraid its not as reliable as the others but it saves alot of money and my legs werent as tight feeling
i want to sit on a ninja before making my final decisision but i wanted some other input on what to do.
im 16
140 pounds
5'9
would a ninja be better for a taller person than other 2
I'm looking to buy my first motorcycle, a 250cc probably. I like the standard/cruiser. I was thinking the Yamaha V_Star, a Honda Rebel or Nighthawk, or the Suzuki TU50.
The Suzuki is the only one with fuel injection and would cost, with all fees and etc almost 5 grand, while the others, which I could buy used, run 2k-3.5k.
Do you think it's worth that much for a new bike with fuel injection?
Thank you.
Suzuki Hayabusa or Kawasaki Ninja ZX 14 Monster Engery?
Perhaps a BMW HP2 Sport, Apprilla RSV1000R Factory, MV Agusta F4 RR 312 1078, Ducati Superbike 1098 R, or a Buell 1125R?
Is a 0,000 MV Agusta F4CC really worth the money if I want the best bike out there?
Does the better handling on 1000cc bikes like the Honda CBR1000RR and the Yamaha YZF R1 make up for their smaller engines?
Are there any other bikes I should know about?
Basically, there are a lot of super sport motorcycles that claim to best. I want to know which one really has the best performance. I don't have much of a restriction on how much I can pay, but I can't pay millions for a pro racing bike, and if a ,000 dollar bike is amazing I don't want to pay 0,000+.
I am an experienced rider with track training on pro motorcycles. I can handle just about any motorcycle.
I know places where I can go fast. A 650 is not enough.
Looking for a new bike, not a classic.
Fine, I am not a pro, but I needed a way to convince you guys to give me information other than "you need a smaller bike, you will never need to go that fast." I just want to know what is out there these days. Keep the answers coming.
Not liking the V-Max
Ok, first off let me say that I believe in having good motorcycle equipment, and I am not the type to ride around on a bike in just a T-Shirt, or crap gear. But I am also trying to be..ummm..."thrifty" in what I spend for my gear. I have found that, for whatever reason, motorcyclists seem to dump their gear--like they sold their bike and the jacket doesn't match the color on the new bike, they had a baby, bought a house, girlfriend/wife told them to stop riding, etc.--so I bought my gear second hand. But I still tried to get good quality gear. So I have a Joe Rocket "Blaster" leather armored jacket that I got for , a Joe Rocket Ballistic Mesh armored jacket for , AGV Kevlar armored gloves for , a pair of leather chaps for off of Ebay and an Arai Signet helmet (which original sold for over 0) that I got for off of craigslist. Keep in mind that all my gear is in good/excellent shape, not falling apart, and I would trust to take care of me in a crash. So don't trip on what I paid for it; if it wasn't in good shape I wouldn't buy it, and alot of people will get rid of good gear in good shape for cheap just because they don't need it.
Anyways my friend is getting into motorcycling, just got a cushy job, and asked me to go look for some gear with him. So we go looking, and we go to a fairly high end store. Now he's looking at either a 0 Alpinestar RC1 jacket or some Dainese (model I don't know) but it was 0. And he's gonna get one of these 0 Shoei helmets, and already bought a pair of 0 kevlar gloves and is thinking about the leather pants and all.
Well, this made me feel a little "insecure" on my gear, and whether I should be shelling out the dough like he is. My question is, is there added "safety" for the price when you buy an Alpinestars or Dainese jacket as opposed to when you buy a lessor priced Joe Rocket or Icon jacket? And same with the helmets? Is that Shoei gonna protect my head better than that Snell and Dot rated HJC? I am just wondering if I am being too cheap, and should really shell out for the 'top shelf' stuff, or whether the lesser brands provide adequate protection.
One more thing, I also am wondering if the leather chaps will provide enough protection in a crash or whether I should go for full on leather pants?
Opinions? Thanks.
I've never ridden a motorcycle before, looking for my options for a starter bike. Im not buying a new bike, so I've been looking for a used one, tried a Kawi 250 LTD but it was too small, I weigh about 215lbs, and stand about 5'8", so Im looking at a two bikes right now. One is a Honda Shadow 550 V-twin, which im told probably has too much torque for a starter. The other is a 1980 Yamaha 650 Maxim, which im told is a good starter bike. What do you guys think?
I am, admittedly, a novice motorcyclist. Based on recommendations from friends I went out and bought a new bike recently. To say I have had problems would be an understatement. I have been told, again by friends, that this is normal. Yesterday I took the bike back to the dealer to again try and have a problem repaired and had an interesting conversation with the service department. When I asked about what was causing the problem, he suggested that I needed more accessories for the bike and proceeded to try and sell me some leather bags. When I asked him how that was going to help me with my problem he said this: "Son, don't you know what kind of bike you own, these so called problems you are experiencing are just part of riding, relax, buy your self something new for the bike and don't let anyone convince you there is any thing wrong with the bike. So I ask you all out there in Cyberspace: "What kind of a bike do I own"?
Thanks for the initial responses. I obviously know the manufacturer of the bike, some have guessed it correctly. The question is; "What kind of bike do I own"? The service guy's comments are what prompted the question when he implied (Stated) I was suppose to just accept the situation and buy something "Shiny".
OK OK I give, Its a Harley Sportster, my problem is that parts just fall of of it and vibrates so hard my hands hurt when I park it. I took a riding course prior to buying it and rode an older Honda (Much Older). That bike was so incredibly smooth (At least in comparison) that I was really looking forward to just going out and riding around the country side. But now I just want to park it and proably sell it. What is acceptable here? The dealership and my friends have been no help as they just expect me to accept the situation.
Liked all the answers but I'll tell you; I would rather ride it than have to work on it. I just sold it and bought a Yamaha V-Max. WOW, what a difference. Perfectly smooth and no parts falling off. My friends are unhappy but if I have to locktite parts back on to keep them from falling off? Well, I seriously doubt I'll ever own another Harley! Yamaha Dealership was also much more focused on what I needed to ride safely instead of "Shiny" items. Again thanmks for all the input.
when buying a new motorcycle from a dealership, will they factor in new gear also?
basicly i am about to buy a new bike and wanted to get some new matching gear(leather helmet etc) the place i am getting the bike is a dealer of the brand i want and i wanted to know if i were to want to spend like1200 extra on gear would they add that it to my estimate
i have had a used bike...and crappy gear...hince the question
my new bike won't steer enough to make 2 donuts to complete the DMV course @ 1 MPH! I need serious help/advice. I know how to lean the bike! It just won't lean and steer at that ridicilously low speed! I need some practical tips not tips from a super cool biker
so will it help if I release some air? my tires are hard like a you know.
typo correction. Some tips from a super cool biker
I'm 20
I've had a Drivers license since I was 16... no crash or ticket.
I want a bike to save money on gas, I drive 74 miles a day back and forth from work and college to finally the house.
I'm not a fancy driver, I don't want to do tricks with the bike, I'm actually afraid of doing it... crashed big time with my bicycle and I'm permanently scare of the idea of braking my hand for trying to willing down a hill 4 years ago lol
anyway I want the new bike because I would at least like to look good in it not to drive my self to a hospital... I don't mind wearing the helmet gloves and jacket
I've had times that a moron has almost crashed with me, so I'm thinking even if I do everything right someone else will crash me and I'll be the one with all the pain
advice please
He knows how to ride a motorcycle. his last bike was a 1975 honda 350. Is this new bike to powerful for him for him? Oh, he is about 5"7
I'm looking to buy a helmet, boots, and gloves to go with my new bike. I actually take rather large sizes too: about an XL helmet and size 10-11 (28-30 cm) boots. I live in south Ibaraki prefecture, and I can easily get around both in my car and on the train. Can anyone suggest a shop that sells good motorcycle equipment without it costing half the price of my bike?
it's a new bike barely have 1000 miles on it what should i worry about includng the bike road rest area etc and what speed should i be doing what can go wrong with the bike and how about oil and the bike maintance
I want to buy a new bike, and wanted to know the difference between a yzf250f and a yz250f.
Thank you very Much!
