I'm completely torn between fuel efficiency and power. I could get a 250cc with awesome gas mileage but they're just not strong enough for a long trip.

I would like to find a 500 or 600 cc bike that will still get me at least 60mpg. I'm not going to drive it really fast or race it. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking of buying this bike as a starter bike. It's got about 170,000 miles on it which definitely seems like a lot. However, I know Hondas last forever so I'm thinking that I might be able to get some use out of it yet. Does anyone have any experience with Honda motorcycles and know about the expected life of the engine. Other than the mileage the bike seems to be in pretty good shape so unless the previous owner really beat on it before, I think this guy could be the one. Thanks for any responses

I would like to buy a used sportsbike such as cbr 600rr, or suzuki gsx from year 2004 and up, I would like to know up to what mileage these motorcycles are goo.

She knows I'm responseable enough but is afraid of her little boy growing up. My dad is ok with it as long as she is.

1. I'm 15, 2 mouths from my 16th birthday

2. The bike is a Buell Blast
http://www.buell.com/en_us/bikes/blast/blast/features.asp

3. They're planing on buying me a car, but the bike is only 4,500

4. I like the looks of sports bikes and how they feel, so I'm not going to speed cause I know I can get hurt doing that on a bike.( I know everybody says that)

5. South Carolina doesn't require helmets but I plan on wearing one along with other safty gear

6. gas mileage is alot better on bikes which is good with gas prices now. (It gets 75 mpg for gods sake)

7. The only wrong reason I want one is that girls I know like guys who ride bikes.

they wear planing on getting me a car a long time before I even wanted the bike

I have a job and i'm going to pay for it, insurants too.

I am thinking on also getting the car, their getting it from a car auction
I'm going to be paying for half the car anyways, and i'm not expereist enough to ride when it's raining.

I really only plan on useing it to get to school an back.
I AM also going to get the car
The Blast is one of the best starter bikes around so what the hell am I sapost to learn on.

An the Blast is a sportster not a sports bike you retard

An their is a diff.

im looking into buying either a Suzuki motorcycle or a Toyota supra-1996ish or newer.. i would like it if you could tell me some pros and cons about mileage cars and how many miles are bad. i looked up another persons question and people said 100k miles on the car is bad. then i saw another one which is 253k miles. a mechanic answered to that and said its fine so long as its maintained well.

I found a 1992 Suzuki GS500 for 00. The only thing it needs is a battery. Can anyone tell me about this bike? I'm 6'0" and weigh just about 230. At the moment I'll just use it for fun rides and going to work but in August I'll need it to drive to Ohio and back to Michigan about once a month. Could the bike make it that far comfortably with me on it? What kind of gas mileage could I expect from this bike since that is the reason I'm buying a motorcycle? If anyone knows alot about these bikes I would greatly appreciate it. Or if you have any suggestions about other bikes I could try then I'm open to ideas. I only have 00 at the moment and I don't want to finance a bike because I can't afford full coverage on a bike.

I really want one but my mom thinks theirs no point and I'll kill my self the first day.

please only put anwswers that apply to my question and none that say how i'm to young
they wear planing on getting me a car a long time before I even wanted the bike
sorry if the "girls like guys with bikes" offended you, I only ment alot of girls I know
I driven bikes with alot more power, my uncle has acouple that he let my drive alone (i have a bike licence)
I've driven raceing qality bikes that have 1000cc
I have been driveing bikes for a year an a half parents don't know that but I do know how to ride. and the only place i ride FAST is at a drag strip my town has(no raceing)

I've seen many of the convertible bike trailer-strollers. My question is has anyone actually ran with them? I'm not talking about pushing the kids around the park for 20 minutes, but actually running significant mileage with it.

Money is fairly tight and my current running stroller sucks, but I'd also like a bike trailer. I'm looking at this: http://www.bicycletrailers.com/Schwinn-M...
It has the 20" wheels in the back and front fixed 16" wheel. No suspension, but how important is that to me or my son? I run mainly on the roads or sometimes a light trail with the kiddo.

-I asked in running as well, but I know a lot of cyclists who run-

My brother was wanting to buy a 250 rebel for gas mileage. Anyone know what kind of mileage they get???

Okay, here is the situation...Im a 17 year old (well, in one month I will be) high school graduate. Im in college full time, and work part time. I need a form of transportation that is cheap,effective, and reliable. My parents are not letting me buy a 1993 Firebird as I wished because of the "Ungodly" insurance rates, which I understand. So Ive decided to buy a new Ninja 250R. I want a bike for the following reasons;

(1) GAS MILEAGE-up to 70 mpg.

(2) LOW INSURANCE- as low as a month. (Hell of a lot cheaper than 0 a month for a Firebird ;)

(3) LOW COST- 00 for a brand new bike.

(4) LOW POWER- There isn't enough power for me to get stupid with.

(5) LOW MAINTENANCE-Very low maintenance, only oil ,filters, and tires need replacement every few thousand miles

(6) RELIABLE- Ive never heard of some ones ninja breaking down on them.

But my parents are protesting my request to allow me to buy a motorcycle. They know that Im a responsible kid ( I mean come on, im in college and Im freaking 16), but my mother says that im going to get killed. No matter how much that I tell her that I'll take safety courses, and wear a helmet and FULL leathers, she refuses to let me start working on getting my M class license. She believes that leathers don't do anything but keep all your dead guts together in a wreck, which I know is not true. Apparently I am "taking my life in my hands" if I ride a bike. And she states that Im already shortening my lifespan by joining the Marine Corps next semester. lol

Sorry for the long read, but Im just really upset at her. I present her with all of the logical reasons to let me purchase a bike, but she is just sooo damn hard headed. What do I do?

The bike is a 2002 Yamaha YZF-R6... It wasn't driven since 04, it has been in storage. The mileage on the bike is 2,900 (original miles) the bike is practically new. Do i have to flush any fluids? change any parts?? What should I do to prevent future damage?? Any suggestions will help. Thanks!!

Don't tell me a used Honda/Kaw/'Zuki/Yamaha. That isn't what I want. This isn't going to be a daily rider, just something to play with, tinker with, and get decent mileage doing it. Hey, somebody had to buy the first Honda that floated over. So I'm looking at the Kymco Venox, Hyosung GV250, Lifan 250 or 400, CFMOTO(qlink) V5, and the Johnny Pag Raptor(I want the police escort model if I could get it). So who has had experience with these? Which one to stay away from? What aftermarket parts have you had experience with? Thanks for any input.

I'm in the initial phases of planning a huge cross country roadtrip by motorcycle for fall of '08, possibly spring of '09. I'd appreciate any insight anyone could give me.

First off, bike type. I had an OLD Honda something or another, a 250... nice bike, but I'm going to get a new (or fairly new) one for this trip. I really dislike big cruising bikes (sorry) with huge saddlebags and 2up seats, so I want something a bit sleeker. I talked to a guy who knew a guy (yeah, one of those stories) who used a KLR-650 and took a 4,000 mile trip and loved it. Good dual purpose bike he said, good gas mileage, comfortable, affordable. Your thoughts on a KLR?

Any other recommendations for a bike I'd gladly consider.

I am somewhat bigger than average (6'3", 195 lbs) so I need something comfortable for my longer legs. I plan on camping most of the time (so a tiny bit of offroading is possible, hence the KLR) and won't have tons of stuff, but I do need a little bit of cargo capacity.

Thanks all!
I plan on keeping it afterwards, yes.

I also think I'll stick to a more southern route (since it'll be fall and cooler up north). West to east, east to west, not sure which way first.

I know there are a lot of variables, but the bike is in good shape for 20 years old, no rust, new wires, and a new front end, bike was taken care of during winter months. I'm just not sure about the mileage, how many more miles can I expect to get out of it?
thank you all for your support, I bought the motorcycle, I couldnt imagine more for your support, the bike runs like a dream- again just wondering about the life span of the enigne and the transmission- I know I cant complain, a friend of mine owned the bike who sold it to me cheap so I could go riding with him after he bought the new honda shadow spirit this summer, I just needed some reassurence, your comments are still wanted ( I want to know what everyone thinks...), especially about its lifespan, just want to know what to expect- i had so much fun tonight- best 500 I ever spent so far, let me know what Im in for...

After leaving with a financed bike, what are the policies concerning this. Is there a time limit. A mileage limit.

Bike was bought from a dealer in Florida @ Honda of Ft. Walton , their site is hondayamahafwb.com

Yes, the bike has problems. It is a CBR1000RR

Any help will be greatly apprieated.

I have a 1978 Honda CB 750K and I'm trying to Cafe Racer it out. What are the best tires in terms of traction and mileage for a bike of this size and style? The roads around me are pretty curving, so account for nice turning.

How are they on the hiway?
Do you get picked on by other motorcyclist?
How is the gas mileage?

I am planning to buy a new motorcycle. But confused between these three motorcycles. Would anyone please guide me which one to go for?? or if not these which one be best buy. I am looking for drive quality, power and fun quotient and not mileage etc. And I am no brand loyal so any brand would do for me.
