Ive been looking for old Honda cb's to buy as my first motorcycle. I have an old honda c100 from 1962, but that can registered as a moped. im looking for something with a little bit more power. i found a 1975 honda cb 175 for 0. The owner said that the engine is tight from sitting for two years. what exactly does this mean? how do you fix it?
Thanks

Textile or Leather Also I am looking to buy a Honda CBR600 or a Suzuki GSX 600 but I don't know if I am tall enough to ride them, Which would you recommend for a height of 5'8"?

In the U.S. Honda is the leader of new bike sales, HD is #2
Then why is it every used motorcycle for sale adds are mostly used HD's for sale?
Then why are there few used Honda Motorcycles for sale.

Answers:

"A" There are more HD's for sale because the economy is bad and people can't afford the payment on a K motorcycle

"B" HD Owners want to trade in their old HD for a new HD but the dealer will not give them a fair trade in price

"C" The current HD they own is outta warranty and it has engine problems that are too expensive to fix, or you can afford to have it fixed

"D" After owning a HD you admit you made a mistake buying it, you wanta sale it to have the money to buy a new Honda Motorcycle

im looking for a sport bike like a Honda cbr or Yamaha r1,r6

but i want to build it myself....is there any places you can buy one unassembled?

I'm looking for a cruiser, not a racing bike or crotch rocket. I've heard that the Honda Shadow is good to start on. Is that right?
Is a Harley-Davidson better? I've heard you're just buying the name and that they require more maintenance than other bikes.
What makes a Harley better, then? Is the resale value better because of the name alone?

I'm interested in buying a 600 class sport motorcycle and wanted to get the opinion from the public on what you would pick and why. I'm looking at kawasaki ninja, yamaha R6, Suzuki GSX-R and Honda CBR. Any and all positives and negatives please.

I have my eye on a bike (2009 Honda Rebel 250), and am wondering what the true price is of owning a bike.
I know there is insurance(I am 18, with a clean record. It should be cheap?), a helmet(not sure how much a good, quality helmet would run), DMV costs???...and is there anything else? I don't want to buy anything that ISN'T mandatory.

Im looking to buy an old honda CB175 and was wondering if 500 is a good price? If anyone has any experience or a motorcycle blue book, it would be greatly appriciated, thanks :) The only problem with kbb is that it does not go that far back on honda bikes... Anyone with experience on old hondas? Thanks :)

im 17 and im going to buy a yamaha r6 or a honda cbr600rr this month and im wondering about how much insurance would cost. the website quotes take forever to get so id just like to know how much other bikers pay for their insurance.

I have a 98 Honda CBR 600cc F3.
My rear tire has worn off pretty badly, front tire is still looking okay.
However, I have trouble deciding what to replace.
FACTS

Existing Tires
Front: Metzeler 120/70 Sportec M-1
Rear: Metzeler 180/55 ZR17 MeZ4 Steel Radial

Recommended by the owner manual.
Front:120/60 ZR17 (55w) [like Dunlop D204FK]
Rear: 160/60 ZR17 (69W) [like Dunlop D204k]

I noticed the size different between what I have and what it recommended on the owner manual (I bought it with those old tires).
Now I replace, Should I replace with the exact tire of what I am having which is, again, 180/55 ZR17 Metzeler ?
Or go with the owner manual recommended 160/60 ZR17?
Note, I only have money to change the rear tire.

Can some one mind explaining to me what those numbers mean?
My other concern is, since I am changing the rear tire only. Is it bad that my front tire and rear tire are different brand?

As I recall, a gentleman bought the name and was going to start making them in California with a Honda v-twin engine. I've been checking around the web, and I can't find anything after 2004. Even their website doesn't have any info. Did they go under?

I ride an old bike, a '79 honda cx500 custom.
Any particular brand of jacket ? I have a helmet, need gloves, jacket, maybe pants, boots...looking for specific suggestions, thx.

I'm new to this game here so maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about. I jsut bought this 86 Honda 450 and it has the factory mirrors on it. They're rectangular - 5" something by 2" something on 6" posts.

I was riding today and noticed I can't really see much to the sides and rear without leaning out of the way and no matter how I adjust them. They don't vibrate or anything, I just can't see much. And also, obviously, I can't see what's directly behind me.

Is there some type of mirror extension, or wider mirror I can buy that'll help me see better? You know - like what a truck or car would have when towing a trailer.

Well i have a 1973 honda cb 175 (k6) right now that i have sort of restored for when i get my permit. I do want a starter bike, but this one is definitely lacking that "new" feeling and is a "cowboy" positioned seat. What type of bike or what bike in general is best to look at for a beginnerthat is about a 250 and more or less "new". I like this bike i have right now, i just something witha little more umph, because its not that big of a bike.

im am a first time user so that means i do not have much or any exper.... i want to buy a sports bike also im 6.2 tall in im 215 pounds so plz help me out on this

I have a Honda Hornet CB 600 F2 and use it only for occasional rides, approximately 1000 miles annually.

I am concerned about the tires. Although they look as new, they are getting old. For example, the rear tire manufacturing date shows 1704, that is approx April 2004.

After how many years (after manufacturing date) should I replace the tire irrespective of milage?

I'm 5'11" and 180 lbs. I've never ridden a motorcycle before. One friend suggests that I get this Yamaha Virago 250, which looks a little small to me. I've got another friend who is recommending a Honda Shadow 1100, which is more the size that I was wanting. They both have good reasons for the motorcycles they recommend, I'd like to hear what other people say.

im planning on buying a new honda cbr for school since there good on miles and i would really like to know how fast these motorcycles go? and if there dependable and how many mpg do they get... thanks for your help and im 16 years old and about to get my first honda cbr if you guys have any tips for me please let me know thanks

I'm about to buy a 1994 Honda Magna Motorcycle, but it has been in a crash, and had a new tank installed. As a result, there is a problem with the vent line. The guy who replaced the tank said he welded an extra vent port on it, and it worked perfectly for many years, but recently it stalled twice. As soon as he opened the gas tank to check the level, it ran normally again.

Is this a potentially a big issue? A safety issue? Expensive to repair? Should I buy the bike?

I don't even know what a vent tube or vent hose does!

Yamaha R1, R6, Honda CBR 600, Kawasaki Ninja?

i am trading a motorcycle 82 honda v45 for a hobart welder it is a 100percent duty 200 amp welder with 220 outlets and 110 outlets i was wondering what do i need to look for in the welder to make sure i am not getting ripped off i have welded with it with 5/32 rod welded pretty good but i welded on the trailer it was sitting on and the welder didnt have and rubber or wood under it and the coil went bad but the fella says he got a new coil and it works i was wondering if anyone knew what else i needed to look for before i made the trade

I started riding a yamaha scooter when i was 9. I then progressed to a suzuki 185 enduro. Then when I was 15 i bought a Honda xr650 to ride around the farm (which i put a few thousand miles on) when i was 16 i got my motorcycle permit so i could ride with my dad and I then bought a 2006 Yamaha FZ6. I put over 11,000mi on it before i ended up selling it. The reason i sold it was because one of my best friends was killed on his Kawasaki 636, but.........that was the first bike he had ever ridden and had ever owned. So now, almost a year later, my question is should i get another bike? The bike i have dreamed about since i was a kid was the Yamaha r6, and that is what i would love to get. I realize it wasn't the bike that killed him, it was rider inexperience and error. Let me know what you think!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Brian
