I know a guy that is selling his 99 Katana 600 for 00. It's black, has 5000 miles, a Yoshi exhaust pipe, a clean title and is in PERFECT shiny sparkling condition, no scratches. I checked Kelly Blue Book and NADA values and a 99 Katana with 30,000 miles on it is valued at over ,000! So naturally this seems like a VERY good deal on paper. But, I just went on ebay and looked at the Katanas for sale, and there are 2001's in the same condition for the same price! I even saw a 2004 Katana with a Buy It Now for only a few hundred dollars more. Why is this?!? Why would everyone be selling them for so much LESS than they are deemed worthy? People generally sell Sport and Sport Touring bikes for WAYYYYY over what they are worth. I regularly see GSX-R's, Ninjas, R6's, and CBR's that sell on ebay and craigslist for even 00 MORE than their Kelly Blue Book value. What's going on?

Check my stats, I always select the best answer.

Does that mean the chain should be changed? I make sure it is very tight but it keeps stretching. I see BRAND NEW 520 SERIES 120 LINK HEAVY DUTY RACING ORING DRIVE CHAIN on ebay site going for bucks. Is that too cheap or a bad brand? What chains are best to buy or is the price within range of what other good ones cost??
Thanks!

Ok I am new to airbrushing, and I am planning on buying my first airbrush/ spraygun. I know I need an air compressor, and I have my eye on some of those, but I need to know which air compressor is better for what I need. I will be using this on a motorcycle sized helmet, and I want the paint reservoir to hold enough paint to hold the whole thing. Which is better:

I am looking to buy a Honda VFR750, someone has one for sale locally, it is a 95, the bike looks very clean, its red in color, he said it has a small dent near the bottom of the tank, and the aftermarket muffler has rust, on it, it looks as though the front fender is a bit warped cause I think they're plastic, I have seen other vfr's with this. no other major dings in the paint, the bike has 54,000 miles, he said he would like to get 00 for it. I thought it seemed a bit high considering the milage, but I dont buy motorcycles so I dont know. I could fix the rust, and heat the front fender and straighten it, but the milage has me worried.
More info just emailed, it has a new rear tire last year, new front this year, clean title, but he stated it needs new mirrors cause the rubber on the old ones were falling apart, I see new racing mirrors on ebay for about , again, its the milage that has me worried.

I have a Mountaineer(Explorer) that has a class 2 hitch. But I want to pull a trailer on it with a motorcycle. Like this trailer: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/5-x-8-Utility-Trailer_W0QQitemZ300052110656QQihZ020QQcategoryZ80770QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Is it okay for me to pull it on my class 2 hitch?

Ok, first off let me say that I believe in having good motorcycle equipment, and I am not the type to ride around on a bike in just a T-Shirt, or crap gear. But I am also trying to be..ummm..."thrifty" in what I spend for my gear. I have found that, for whatever reason, motorcyclists seem to dump their gear--like they sold their bike and the jacket doesn't match the color on the new bike, they had a baby, bought a house, girlfriend/wife told them to stop riding, etc.--so I bought my gear second hand. But I still tried to get good quality gear. So I have a Joe Rocket "Blaster" leather armored jacket that I got for , a Joe Rocket Ballistic Mesh armored jacket for , AGV Kevlar armored gloves for , a pair of leather chaps for off of Ebay and an Arai Signet helmet (which original sold for over 0) that I got for off of craigslist. Keep in mind that all my gear is in good/excellent shape, not falling apart, and I would trust to take care of me in a crash. So don't trip on what I paid for it; if it wasn't in good shape I wouldn't buy it, and alot of people will get rid of good gear in good shape for cheap just because they don't need it.

Anyways my friend is getting into motorcycling, just got a cushy job, and asked me to go look for some gear with him. So we go looking, and we go to a fairly high end store. Now he's looking at either a 0 Alpinestar RC1 jacket or some Dainese (model I don't know) but it was 0. And he's gonna get one of these 0 Shoei helmets, and already bought a pair of 0 kevlar gloves and is thinking about the leather pants and all.

Well, this made me feel a little "insecure" on my gear, and whether I should be shelling out the dough like he is. My question is, is there added "safety" for the price when you buy an Alpinestars or Dainese jacket as opposed to when you buy a lessor priced Joe Rocket or Icon jacket? And same with the helmets? Is that Shoei gonna protect my head better than that Snell and Dot rated HJC? I am just wondering if I am being too cheap, and should really shell out for the 'top shelf' stuff, or whether the lesser brands provide adequate protection.

One more thing, I also am wondering if the leather chaps will provide enough protection in a crash or whether I should go for full on leather pants?

Opinions? Thanks.

I’m looking to buy myself a motorcycle this summer. I’ve got about 00 to spend on a used cruiser. I’ve been looking at Honda’s and Yamaha’s. (cant afford a Harley and I don’t want a sportster 883) But I’m just wondering what my ambitions should be. I’m looking for a daily commuter and something I can put my wife on the back of and we can roam the country roads. So can a mid size 750cc provide enough power I might want. I’m a entry level rider and I don’t need to turn anyone’s heads either. Just looking for the biggest bang for the buck with enough to move two people around. Also the only decent search engine I can find is cycle trader.com or browsing Ebay. But anyone that has an opinion on any of this please it’s welcomed. Also I’m a soldier in central Texas so I’d like to get something at lest in the state. Thanks to anyone that replies.
Scouts Out!

kinds of new parts and when I started putting them on the bike none of them were fitting I called yamaha and when they seached by the vin number they say the bike is a 99 yz250. I called the store I got it from and they just hung up on me. My receipt says I bought 2002 and I am now out about 600 for all the accessories I bought that wont fit on the bike. What should be my next step and can I get back any of the money Im out for the parts? I bought most on ebay so I cant return them. Thanks

*What kind of motorcycle do you own or want to own?

*During what time of the year do you generally buy accesories/parts for your ride?

*Where do you generally buy your parts/accessories? Ebay, online suppliers, local store, etc.

So I am on the market for my first bike. I took a class and learned how to ride it. Looked around a bit and decided to get either 2001+ Yamaha r6 or 2004+ Honda CBR600RR. I mostly looked on eBay and on cycletrader.com and a lot of times these used bikes have scratches and dents. So my question is what to look out for when buying used bike? What damages can turn out to cost more in the long run to fix then others?

I'm buying a 2001 Yamaha R6 but i think it might be stolen becouse the guy i am buying it from has another bike also an R6 thats beat up and uses it for parts plus he bought an odomoter of ebay becouse he said the old one birned out so im thinking he switched the frames and is giving me the title to a diffrent frame and the frame is also polished so cant see the vin number. is there anything ican do before hand to make sure its not stolen, maby make him sign somthing or......

I am interested in buying a Suzuki GN125. It has 12,000 miles on the clock, a 125cc engine (i need a learner bike), is 8 years old, MOTed until November. The bike is in full working order but has a few minor cosmetic flaws. It's a gorgeous bike and I really like it. The Ebay listing is here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270242599143&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching

What do you think? It is at £650 so far and I would have to travel 44 miles to pick it up and pay £27 to hire a traillor (i wouldn't be comfortable riding it home that distance and I need to drive the car back).

How much should I go up to?

Thanks in advance.
I am in the UK, so I cannot use the American websites to check - I do not have a zipcode (it will not allow me to enter an English one).

I am very car savy. I know my stuff when it comes to knowing what brands are good and which are crap, and i never buy generic parts, or from companies i've not heard of until I research them. I'm just looking for seom websites, stores or catalogs that dont overprice their stuff

Here is the link, if you wouldn't recommend these please give me a link to ones that you would prefer. They have to be in the same price range though. No more than .

Which one?

utility trailers on ebay and a web site on the internet how do i do that

Hello, I need a Snell/DOT approved racing helmet. It's for the drag strip and they require 98+ Snell approved helmets only. They also have to have the tags on the inside of the helmet. Where can I get one of these helmets for a decent price, besides a motorcycle store. Any good websites outthere besides ebay, because they don't have the tags inside, most don't.

and not a factory reject. it's on ebay and all the seller is saying is that it "looks new". is there a published list of recalls on motorcycle tires?
